[Model Essay]

This bar chart shows the figures with regard to imprisonment from 1930 to 1980 in the five countries as Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada.

Generally speaking, the U.S. kept more prisoners than the other countries. It topped the figures of the five countries in 1940, 1960, 1970 and 1980, which reached the highest in the the 1980 at nearly 140 thousand. Great Britain kept less people in prison than the other countries before 1980. In 1980, it ranked fourth place, surpassing Austraila.

From 1930 to 1980, Great Britain stayed steadily ascending in the imprisonment figures from about 30 thousand to almost 80 thousand. Australia bumped up and down with the height of virtually 78 thousand in 1970. New Zealand started at approximately 100 thousand in 1930, descending to the lowest in 1950 of 50 thousand or so. Then it continued rising to nearly 90 thousand  in 1980.

All in all, U.S. and Canada took first and second places all the time. Moreover, we can see that imprisonment in the five countries underwent many changes across the 50 years.
